HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering

This course is for learners who have achieved the required prior qualifications, skills and knowledge within the field of electrical/electronic engineering to advance to YHC/HND level. This qualification will allow learners to pursue careers in electronics in roles such as computer technicians or as a trainees in the electrical/electronic engineering field. This course uses a mixture of both practical activities and lectures to develop transferable skills towards employment within the electrical and electronic industries. Our qualifications are aimed at people wishing to become experts in their chosen trade. Learners will be taught in our state of the art bespoke workshops and classrooms by industry experienced tutors.

Entry Requirements
BTEC Level 3 qualification (DDM) in electrical or electronic engineering. Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in electrical installation will be considered.
Details

The Level 4 qualification teaches learners about electrical/electronic engineering through a mixture of practical work and classroom work. The practical work teaches the hands-on skills needed for the trade, classroom work teaches the knowledge needed for the field. There is a challenging level of math and physics embedded into this course as knowledge of these areas is crucial to this industry. Core units on this course include: Analytical methods for engineers Engineering science Project design, implementation and evaluation Other units on this course include: Programmable logic controllers Electrical power Utilisation of electrical energy Further electrical power Electrical and electronic principles Further analytic methods Digital and analogue devices and circuits Electrical, electronic and digital principles Application of microcontrollers.

Course fees: £3,000

Staff credentials: All staff teaching on this course have worked in industry and have industry backgrounds. They all have the relevant high end qualifcations mixed with the industry experience that give high quality teaching, learning and experience to the programmes.

Expected workload: 7 hours per week on campus in face to face lecturers, seminars or workshops.

Additional costs: This course is designed for students to undertake research and analysis into various aspects of Construction.  Each assignment will be designed to apply knowledge and understanding from various issues to various case study scanrios. Whilst it is not a compulsory requirement, students are encouraged to undertake part time work or work experience to further support the application of learning around theory and concepts, this will be at the learners' own cost.

Work Experience
There is no specific work experience required to pass this course however there are practical activities.
Progression
Upon completion of this course, students can progress to more higher education e.g. Masters degrees. Learners could alternatively pursue careers such as: electrical technician, electronic technician, computer technician.
