Our Courses

We like to say that we’ve got a course for everyone – and we mean it! No matter your age, ambitions or preferred mode of teaching, we’re confident that you’ll find a pathway to get you to where you want to be.

Our courses are vocational, with many leading to a nationally accredited qualification. They can be pivotal in giving you the perfect grounding to gain employment, earn a promotion or advance to a higher level of study.

Here’s a brief overview of the routes we offer for you at Hopwood Hall College and University Centre.

School Leavers

T-Levels

T-Levels are the revolutionary new alternative to A-Levels. These popular qualifications have been incredibly successful and due to the demand for places we are continuing to add more and more pathways.

Created alongside employers, T-Levels are designed to help learners to feel work-ready when they finish their two-year course. This is partly made possible through an invaluable 315-hour work placement that students undertake across the duration of their course.

Much like A-Levels, T-Levels earn UCAS points and are the perfect route to Higher Education. They are also suitable for anyone interested in going straight into employment or completing a Higher Apprenticeship.

BTECs

BTECs are an amazing option for anyone who wants to undertake specialist work-related learning in a specific vocational sector.

The length of your course will depend on your entry level, with Level 3 courses lasting two years. It’s quite common for learners to start on a lower level (such as Level 1 or 2) before progressing to a higher level once they become more comfortable with the subject.

The courses provide learners with the vocational skills needed to enter the workplace, while Level 3 courses equate to UCAS points and are often used to advance students to Higher Education.

Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships are the ultimate way to earn as you learn. You’ll gain experience in a real job with a wage, while also attending college to gain the industry-specific skills that are needed for your career.

If you become an apprentice you can expect a flexible approach to teaching which combines practical on-the-job learning with technical education.

Our amazing Apprenticeships team is always more than happy to advise you on any vacancies we have and which roles you would be most suitable for.

Adults

Level 3 (FREE)

You can now complete a coveted Level 3 qualification for FREE* at Hopwood Hall.

These courses are ideal for anyone who wants to develop important new skills, improve their career prospects and make new friends along the way.

Any eligible adult who has not previously achieved a first or second full Level 3 qualification can access our range of free courses funded by the Greater Manchester Skills Fund and the National Skills Fund.

Part-time

Anyone aged 19-99+ can take advantage of our in-person part-time courses, many of which can earn you an accredited qualification.

You’ll benefit from using our state of the art facilities, including industry-standard equipment, and being taught face-to-face by our expert tutors.

The courses are ideal if you want to switch careers or make yourself stand out in your current role. In addition, they’re great for meeting like-minded people and making new connections.

Flexible Learning

Flexible Learning is a fantastic option for anyone who wants to gain new skills while juggling commitments such as work and family.

The courses can be undertaken from home over the space of roughly 12 weeks and are free* for most residents of Greater Manchester.

You can expect to finish your course with a greater understanding of your subject area and, in most cases, an accredited qualification.

Short Online Courses

Our short online courses give you the perfect opportunity to grow and add to your skillset at a time and place most suited to you, with many people using them as a form of CPD.

These courses are designed to give you access to bite-sized information that can be used as a stepping stone to grow in both your personal and professional life.

You can choose up to five courses from our extensive range, meaning you can boost your knowledge in multiple areas through this amazing opportunity.

Taster Sessions

Our free short taster courses are a brilliant way to dip your toe back into education.

They tend to be short in length, can be a fantastic form of leisure learning and will leave you with a better understanding of what your chosen subject area entails.

Many learners enjoy these courses before choosing to undertake a longer adult course at the college.

Training for Trades

Our Training for Trades courses provide industry standard qualifications for tradespeople looking to update or add to their skillsets.

They are delivered by our expert tutors and usually have numerous start dates throughout the year.

The courses also vary in length and can fit into different schedules for working people.

University Centre

Higher Education

Our Higher Education courses can make you a master of your field.

We’re proud to offer a growing range of courses, where you’re taught in smaller class sizes and pay much more affordable fees than at other institutions.

The courses conclude with a special graduation ceremony, with graduates then typically progressing to further study or higher up the career ladder.

Access

Access courses are an excellent choice for people who want to go to university but don’t currently have the necessary qualifications to do so.

You can choose between Level 2 or 3 pathways, depending on your current qualifications – meaning it could take as little as 12 months to make you the perfect candidate to study Higher Education.
