Access to Higher Education
Access to Higher Education (HE) courses are designed to be an ideal fast track route for adult learners looking to go to university or wanting to study towards a new career. Access courses allow learners to gain entry to university even if they do not have qualifications such as A-levels and BTECs. If you want to go to university but feel you might lack the entry qualifications, or have been out of education for a while, then an Access course can help.
Access Diplomas are nationally recognised qualifications tailored to help people progress into a range of careers. All Access courses include academic units tailored to their subject area along with units covering presentation skills, academic writing and communication skills.
To gain entry onto Level 3 Access pathways it is essential that you will have attained a Level 2 in English and Maths (GCSE grade C/4 or above) prior to the start of the programme. Those who do not have GCSE Maths and English will be directed to Level 2 Access programme or suitable alternatives as preparation for progression to Access Level 3.
Fees for our Access courses vary according to an individual’s circumstances. For the Level 3 Access to HE Diploma, students aged 24+ must apply for funding through the 24+ FE loan scheme. For current information on the fees of Access courses please contact the Student Advisers at the College. Visit the student support section for more information on the financial support available to help with the cost of studying.
