Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma (Sport and Exercise)

This course is designed for people aged 18 or over and is perfect for anyone looking to start a career in any sports, exercise, health or nutrition professions, or considering changing careers to work in these fields.

A career in any of these professions empowers you to help people to live healthier and more active lives, working in a variety of positions and a wide choice of specialties.

Hopwood Hall College is recognised as one of the best colleges in the North West for Sport related courses, it has fantastic facilities and expert tutors with industry related experience.

The content of the course is a mixture of units on various topics in sport and academic study skills to support your progression.

You can expect to be in class 12 hours a week usually over two days - timetables are subject to change. You will need 12-20 hours outside of class to complete assignment work.

Entry Requirements

Immediate entry to our one-year Level 3 Access to HE Diplomas - offering the quickest route to university - is open to students who have already attained sufficient GCSE qualifications (Grade 4/C or above in English, Maths and Science).

It is preferred that you have these qualifications prior to starting your Level 3 Access Diploma as the skills you will have gained from studying these qualifications will really help you on this programme.

All applicants will have the opportunity to discuss their application in an interview with one of our tutors, where any questions about the course will be addressed. Additionally, you will complete an English and Maths assessment to assess your readiness for Level 3 study. Depending on the results, you may also have the opportunity to retake either a Maths or English GCSE alongside this course*.

*Please note, it will not be possible to retake both English and Maths GCSE alongside your Access to HE programme.

The Access to HE Diploma in Sports and Exercise is designed to prepare students for entry into a range of undergraduate programs in the sports, health, or nutrition fields. The subjects covered in this course typically include:

Human Biology: You will learn about the structure and function of the human body, including the cardiovascular, respiratory, digestive, and nervous systems.

Health: You will explore a range of modules relating to nutrition and lifestyle

Exercise: You will learn and practice a range of different exercise techniques for different purposes.

Research and Referencing: This module teaches you the skills and techniques required to carry out research in animal sciences, including data collection, analysis, and interpretation.

Work Experience

There are no formal work experience requirements on this course.

Progression

The Access to HE Diploma offers students a way to gain the qualifications needed to enter Higher Education and gain a degree, helping enter their chosen career
