A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade D/3 or above are needed to begin this course, and this needs to include English and Maths. All students are required to achieve GCSE grade C/4 in English and Maths. If these two subjects don't reach the required grade, there are opportunities to study these subjects alongside the course to help achieve grade C. This is a government requirement but also needed by many employers for any number of careers.
Alternative entry requirements to the GCSEs include the CACHE Level 2 Certificate, BTEC Level 2 qualification, NVQ Level 2 or VRQ Level 2.
These courses provide learners with the competencies to work within the health and social care field. Professions include social work, youth and community work, psychology, nursing, paramedics, occupational therapy, sports, science, various positions within residential and nursing homes, mental health and allied medical professions. Courses consists of academic work within the college and practical work within the vocational industry and are subject to CRB clearance.

Learners enrolled on the Level 2 Health and Social Care study programme are required to complete a minimum of 35 hours work‑experience placement as part of their course.
This hands‑on experience allows learners to apply their classroom knowledge in real care settings, develop essential professional skills, and build confidence working with individuals who require support. This ensures students gain valuable, meaningful experience that prepares them for progression into further study or employment.
On completion of the course students' progress onto our Level 3 diploma in Health and Social Care or they can go into employment.
For other students, it will be time to enter employment with possible careers such as: Health professional, home carer, health care assistant, care assistant, senior carers, support worker, auxiliary nurse, personal assistant, paramedic, occupational therapist.
