Brickwork - Level 2 Diploma

This course is for learners looking to develop their skills in brickwork and gain a recognised qualification. This course is available to learners who have successfully completed the Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork or Cskills Level 1 in Carpentry & Joinery, or have 1-5 years’ experience in the relevant trade. This qualification is for learners wishing to become experts in their chosen trade. You can also progress through an apprenticeship route and work towards becoming a master craftsman. Learners will be taught in our state of the art bespoke workshops and classrooms by industry experienced tutors.

Brickwork - Level 2 Diploma

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs grade D/3 or above to include English and Mathematics. All students are required to achieve GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English. If the required grade is not reached there are opportunities to study these subjects at college alongside the course to help achieve it. This is a government requirement but also needed by many employers for a number of careers. Alternatively the Level 1 Diploma in Brickwork or Cskills Level 1 in Carpentry & Joinery, or 1–5 years’ experience in the relevant trade are also accepted.
Details
This Level 2 qualification teaches students about brickwork and construction. Brickwork by covering basic principles through a mixture of practical work and classroom work. The practical work in our brickwork workshop develops the hands-on skills needed for the trade, classroom work develops the knowledge needed to succeed in the trade. Maths is a crucial part of the construction trade and is therefore embedded into the brickwork course. This Level 2 qualification teaches learners about brickwork and construction to the professional skill level needed to succeed work in the industry. Topics on this course include: Principals or organising, planning and pricing construction work Repair and maintain masonry structures Constructing radial and battered brickwork Carrying out decorative and reinforced brickwork Constructing fireplaces and chimneys Complex masonry structures Health, safety and welfare in construction Students will also attend tutorial sessions on a weekly basis where topics to develop employability skills will be covered.
Work Experience
There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course however there is a strong practical element. Learners are pushed to develop their practical skills and enter into the skills competitions we run with other colleges to help them stand out from the crowd.
Progression
Upon completion of this course, students are able to progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Brickwork, an apprenticeship route or employment. Possible careers include: Construction worker, bricklayer, building maintenance manager, other building trades courses and apprenticeships.
