Entry Requirements
  • 4 GCSE passes (grade 4 or above), including English and Maths

Entrants who do not have a grade 4 or above in English and Maths will continue studying these at the college

Details

You'll study a wide range of units which are designed to give you the perfect foundation for a career in Carpentry and Joinery.

The following topics will provide you with a strong portfolio of evidence to progress in the sector:

  • Principles of construction

  • Structural carpentry

  • Non-structural carpentry prior to plastering

  • Non-structural carpentry following plastering

  • Timber technology and the use of a circular saw

Work Experience

There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course. However, the carpentry and joinery workshop is designed to replicate a workplace environment and will allow you to feel comfortable in a professional setting.

Progression

This qualification will allow you to progress into employment, including higher job roles such as an advanced craft site carpenter.
