Entry Requirements
4 GCSE passes (grade 3 or above), including English and Maths
or a Level 1 qualification
or 1-5 years' experience in the trade
Entrants who do not have a grade 4 or above in English and Maths will continue studying these at the college
Details
You'll study a wide range of units which are designed to give you the perfect foundation for a career in Carpentry and Joinery.
The following topics will provide you with a strong portfolio of evidence to progress onto the next level of study:
Health, safety and welfare in construction
Principles of building construction, information and communication
Further first fix operations (such as flooring, roofing, door frames and more)
Second fix operations (such as finishing staircases, fitting storage and much more)
Setting up and operating the circular saw
Work Experience
There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course. However, the carpentry and joinery workshop is designed to replicate a workplace environment and will allow you to feel comfortable in a professional setting.
Progression
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to progress onto a Level 3 Diploma.
Alternatively, you may pursue an apprenticeship, a traineeship or employment in roles such as construction worker, carpenter, joiner or building maintenance manager.
