Before you enrol, we will make sure you are directed to the right level of course for you through an English assessment/interview. You should be able to state which skills you wish to improve, have clear goals you wish to achieve and be able to work independently.
If English is not your first language, you may need to complete ESOL qualifications before progressing onto these qualifications.
Functional Skills English courses aim to build on your current skills and to focus on the skills needed to help you succeed in everyday work and social situations.
We offer Functional Skills English qualifications at Entry 1, Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2. You will study a range of topics to develop your knowledge and skills in reading, writing and speaking and listening.
Not required.
On successful completion of the course you will receive a Functional Skills qualification in English at either Entry Level, Level 1 or Level 2. You may then progress to the next level of English, to a GCSE course, or to other further education courses.
