Essential Digital Skills - Level 1

Essential Digital Skills (EDSQs) will equip you with the skills you need to make the most of your mobile phone, apps and other digital services. It will enable you to stay safe online and be able to develop skills such as how to open a mobile bank account, apply for an electronic passport and shop for bargains online.

EDSQs are ideal for those seeking to develop digital skills to function more effectively in everyday life. The course runs on Thursday evenings from 6-9pm, 3 hours per week for 11 weeks.

This is a FREE course.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements. This course is ideal for those with little to no digital skills. You will receive a nationally-recognised qualification to enhance your skills. This is a fully-funded and up-to-date qualification that reflects the evolving digital landscape.

Details

These qualifications run at Entry Level 3 and Level 1. You may study at Entry 3 and then move onto Level 1.

This course covers five key areas:

Using Devices and Handling Information – using hardware and software, searching and navigating
Creating and Editing – using apps to enter and edit information, capturing/saving multimedia
Communicating – sending and receiving communications
Transactions – e-commerce and online purchasing
Staying Safe and Being Responsible Online – staying safe online, protecting your data, etc.

Progression

This is an introductory course for beginners. On completion of this qualification, you can use skills gained both in the workplace and at home.
