Challenging behaviour is causing increasing concern today, as many individuals have increasing levels of stress and uncertainty in their lives. This behaviour can be due to factors such as anxiety, neglect, abuse, learning disabilities and conditions like dementia. Understanding the causes of challenging behaviour is the first step towards finding ways to support individuals and manage their behaviour. This qualification is designed to increase learners’ awareness and understanding of behaviour that challenges and its effects.

ATTENDANCE:

This course is delivered on a Flexible Learning basis over a twelve-week period. You will be assigned an assessor who will be able to provide additional help and support if required but all learning will be completed and submitted remotely through an on-line learning platform. Your assessor will provide feedback and advice on all work submitted and will assess your full qualification through to the end of learning.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific prior learning requirements for this qualification. It will be beneficial if you have Level 1 English and feel competent with using IT.

Eligibility:

You must currently live in Greater Manchester
You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
You must be over the age of 19
You must not be on an apprenticeship

Details

This course is made up of four units:

Understand behaviour that challenges
Understand how to support positive behaviour.
Understand the importance of effective communication and the management of behaviour that challenges
Understand the role of reflection and support for those involved in incidents of behaviour that challenges

Work Experience

As this qualification is knowledge only, you do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification. However, if a work placement is a required for your course, the College will support you in completing a DBS application.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

Level 2/3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
Level 2 qualifications in Mental Health
Level 2 Certificate in Principles of Working with Individuals with Learning Disabilities
Level 2/3 Certificates in Understanding Autism
Level 2/3 qualifications for the Children and Young People’s Workforce
