The Award in Education and Training (Level 3) replaces the previous Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification. It is an introductory qualification appropriate for teachers, tutors and trainers working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider, and for those delivering work-based training or working within voluntary, community, private and public organisations. It is also suitable for people who are considering this kind of work in the future. Candidates must be 19+.

Entry Requirements
Entry requirements are a Level 2 qualification in English or an equivalent level of literacy. Prospective candidates will be invited to attend college for an assessment prior to being offered a place on the course.
Details
The Award offers an introduction to teaching and covers topics such as the roles and responsibilities of a teacher/trainer, planning and delivering inclusive sessions, and assessing learning. There are 3 written assignments, and candidates plan and deliver a 20 minute micro-teach to their peers.
The course consists of 45 guided learning hours, (usually 3 hours per week over 15 weeks.) Some independent study will also be required. The course takes place on Tuesday evenings 6pm-9pm at the Middleton Campus, and Thursday evenings 6pm-9pm at the Rochdale campus. Award courses start in September and February.
