Biomedical Science - Level 3 Extended Diploma

With an estimated 5.9 million people employed in STEM occupations across the UK (that’s 18% of the workforce*), there’s plenty of opportunity for a career in the Applied Science sector. *British Science Association, 2020

BTECs are high-quality, career-focused qualifications grounded in the real world of work. BTEC learners develop and apply the knowledge, skills and behaviours that employers and universities are looking for; organisation, time management, communication, practical skills and analysis.

Biomedical science is at the heart of medical breakthroughs in healthcare. This involves anything from creating artificial muscles from cells to treat diseases and illnesses, to looking at the brain to understand stress and anxiety. Study biomedical science to develop your understanding of the human body and conduct medical research.

Learning and applying scientific thinking creates critical thinkers and will drive the next generation of innovation and growth. Career options include but are not limited to, Laboratory Assistant, Food Scientist, Forensic Scientist, Industry Technician, Health Scientist.

We have two dynamic offerings:

  • Applied Science with a Forensic focus
  • Applied Science with a Biomedical focus

The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma is designed as a two-year full-time programme.

This course is taught at our Middleton campus, located in Middleton, Greater Manchester.
