Vehicle Maintenance & Repair - Level 2 Diploma

If you’ve always been fascinated by cars, then you are the perfect person to study the Level 2 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

This course is taught at our Middleton Campus in Middleton, Greater Manchester. In particular, it’s located in our state-of-the-art Advanced Engineering and Technology Centre.

The building is one of the most sought-after places for trades-based training in the region – featuring 6,500 square-metres of the newest and most cutting edge equipment.

Our Motor Vehicle workshop is one of the most impressive parts of the facility, giving you access to all the tools and machinery that you need as you start building a highly desired skillset in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.

Under the guidance of our expert tutors who have worked in the industry themselves, you’ll develop an intermediate understanding of areas such as brakes, engines and transmission systems.

In addition, you’ll also develop your knowledge and understanding of more advanced aspects of the trade, such as ignition systems, in car entertainment systems, cooling systems and body types.

This will then lead to further study opportunities, including the chance to progress onto the Level 3 qualification.

Entry Requirements
  • 4 GCSEs grade 3 and above, preferably to include English Language and Maths

  • or a Level 1 qualification

  • or 1-5 years' experience in the trade

Entrants who do not have a grade 4 or above in English and Maths will continue studying these at the college

  • Materials, fabrication, tools and measuring devices

Work Experience

There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course. However, the motor vehicle workshop is designed to replicate a garage environment and will allow you to feel comfortable in a professional setting.

Progression

Following completion of the course, you will be able to progress onto a Level 3 qualification.

You will also be able to pursue alternative opportunities if you prefer, including an apprenticeship or a traineeship.
