Counselling Skills - Level 2 Certificate

There has never been greater focus or emphasis on the importance of mental health and wellbeing. Studying Counselling Courses will empower you to develop an understanding of the science and theory underpinning emotional welfare development. More and more of us are understanding how critical it is to take up the opportunities to work on our mental health and nurture our personal relationships.

This qualification aims to introduce you to the use of counselling skills in everyday life and work, and some of the approaches that underpin the use of these skills. This qualification also gives you the opportunity to investigate the knowledge and skills needed to use counselling skills and engage in a helping interaction appropriately.

This course is taught at our Middleton campus, located in Middleton, Greater Manchester.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific recommended prior learning requirements for this qualification. However, you may find it helpful if you have already achieved a Level 1 qualification.

Though no formal qualifications are required for entry onto Level 2, there needs to be sufficient competence in written and spoken English Language. Applicants must attend an interview and written assessment session to assess their suitability for the course.

There is a 2-week taster course prior to enrolment to gain further understanding of the course and to ensure suitability.

Details

This qualification is useful for anyone who would like to develop their use of counselling skills for use in either work or a personal capacity.

These may be learners who wish to progress towards further qualifications or learners who wish to study this programme in order to complement other programmes (eg health and social care, children’s care, learning and development, voluntary and community work).

Progression

Learners who meet entry requirements for the Level 3 Counselling Diploma often go on to study the Level 3 course after completion of Level 2. Entry requirements for Level 3 include GCSE English Language at grade C/4+ and successful intevIew/written assessment (see Counselling Skills - Level 3 Diploma for further information).
