College and CITB join forces to host housebuilding forum for construction leaders

Hopwood Hall College and CITB are hosting a free forum that will give construction leaders the opportunity to shape the skills needed to address the country’s chronic housing shortage.

The Housebuilding Employer Forum – also held in partnership with NHBC – will take place at INNSiDE by Meliá Manchester on Thursday 13th March.

Featuring special guest speakers, industry experts and round table discussions, it promises to be an unmissable event for businesses gearing up to play their part in the government’s ambitious plans to build 1.5m homes by 2029.

In particular, it will focus on how the direction of skills training can guarantee the future workforce needed to accelerate the speed of housebuilding in the region and beyond.

Hopwood Hall – which has campuses in Middleton and Rochdale, Greater Manchester – has a staunch record for working alongside employers to shape its curriculum and meet skills gaps.

This upcoming forum is the next stage of this, giving construction leaders the opportunity to have their say on the training and qualifications that they’re looking for in order to achieve growth and keep meeting the demands of the industry.

Julia Heap, Principal and CEO of Hopwood Hall College and University Centre, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to meet with business leaders at our upcoming Housebuilding Employer Forum.

“This really is a fantastic opportunity for us to come together and really start digging into the challenges that house builders face and the ways we can collaborate to overcome them.

“We’re perfectly positioned to train the workforce of tomorrow, with learners of all ages already gaining the most cutting-edge new skills at our industry-leading Advanced Technology and Construction Centre.

“Now we want to hear your thoughts on future skills – and it’s through this that we’ll be able to provide that crucial talent pipeline to steer the sector moving forwards.”

The Housebuilding Employer Forum will take place from 2pm – 5pm, featuring panel discussions and guest speakers.

Amongst those scheduled to speak is Deb Madden, CITB Executive Director (Nations Engagement).

There will then be an opportunity for additional networking and refreshments at the city centre venue from 5pm – 7pm.

The forum is free to attend but places are strictly limited. Those interested in being a part of the event can register HERE.
