Construction and the Built Environment - Level 2 First Certificate

This Level 2 course in Construction and the Built Environment with DEC (Design - Engineer - Construct) has been designed by industry professionals to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to launch a successful career in in either Civil Engineering, Surveying, Architecture or Programme Management. The course is ideal as a transition between school and enrolling on a Level 3 course in either the T level in Surveying or the L3 CBE with DEC, or you can progress straight into employment or enrol on an apprenticeship.

This Level 2 course in Construction and the Built Environment with DEC (Design - Engineer - Construct) has been designed by industry professionals to equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to launch a successful career in in either Civil Engineering, Surveying, Architecture or Programme Management. Entry Requirements
  • 5 GCSEs minimum, Grade 3 Maths and English minimum

Details

Course modules include:

  • Construction Technology and Construction Design

  • Construction Science and Maths

  • Sustainability and Construction Drawing Techniques

In addition to an introduction to the core construction trades, the DEC (Design - Engineer - Construct) course is run as part of this course. The course will be delivered using a variety of methods including classroom activities and workshop delivery; you will be assessed by a mix of portfolio evidence including in-class tests, written assignments, online tests, case studies and presentations.

Work Experience

Employer engagement and work placement is embedded into the course delivery. Work placement opportunties may be virtual or in person. Learners are required to carry out a minimum of one weeks work placement in a relevant field.

Progression

This course is an ideal introduction to a career in the construction industry as well as a stepping stone to one of our Level 3 courses or an apprenticeship, leading to possible careers as a technician in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Professional Construction or Site and Project Management.
