No formal qualifications are required
The course, running for 12 weeks, involves 4 weeks in each of the following trades areas:
- Carpentry and Joinery:
Basic wood joints, half lap, dovetail, housing, fitting skirting boards (mitres and scribes for external and internal corners), fitting hinges and handles to doors.
- Plastering:
Applying plasterboard, applying skim coats, patch plastering
- Painting and Decorating:
Applying lining and wallpapers, applying paint to doors, skirting boards, door frames, walls and ceilings.
There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course.
However, the Multi Skills Training Centre is designed to replicate a workplace environment and will allow you to feel comfortable in a professional setting.
This course is perfect for allowing you to progress with your studying, most likely through choosing a single trade to study at Level 2. However, you may prefer to train through an apprenticeship.
