The BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate is aimed at people who work or who wish to work in the games industry. The course focuses upon the creative art elements considered fundamental to successful performance in a vocational games industry context, and for employment in the exciting world of games art animation and visual effects. You will also undertake a number of industry related enrichment visits such as developer conferences to enhance your learning experience.

To begin this course, you will need one of the following:
- 1 or more A Levels
- BTEC Level 3 qualification
- NVQ Level 3
- VRQ Level 3
- Completion of a recognized Access programme containing elements of study in relevant subjects.
Mature entrants can apply with no formal qualifications but must demonstrate appropriate experience, motivation and personal qualities with a minimum of three years relevant work experience and completion of a formal assignment to assess academic capacity.
This is a full-time course over one year. A range of assessment methods including assignments, presentations to industry professionals, course work and live briefs.
These will aim to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding relevant to specific creative activities in games art application and in the creation of your own professional portfolio.

This course includes the opportunity for suitable students to undertake work experience with a local games company. This is an exciting opportunity to enhance your portfolio and gain creative experience in the development of commercial games and to develop content for Oculus Rift, Virtuix Omni and Unreal Engine 4 and the creation of high quality game ready assets.
Learners who achieve the Edexcel BTEC Level 5 HND in Creative Media can progress onto the onto the second year of a HND or degree programme in Games Art, Games Design or other relevant subject. Employment in the games/media sector is also an option.
