This course prepares students for a range of careers in childcare at supervisory management level, can provide an appropriate pathway for gaining Early Years Teaching Status (EYTS) and is run in partnership with the University of Bolton.

Foundation Degree in Early Years
80 UCAS tariff points which could include:
- 2 or more A Levels
- BTEC/Edexcel National Level 3
- Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education and Care (Early Years Educator) or Level 3 Diploma in Childcare & Education (Early Years Educator)
- GCSE English and maths at Grade C/4 or above
Mature students can apply with no formal qualifications but with a minimum of three years relevant industry experience. A formal literacy diagnostic and comprehension assessment will be required to assess academic capability.
Acceptance subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and Fit Person Registration.
The course is made up of both compulsory modules, which all students undertake, and a specialist unit that enable you to study particular areas in depth.
Level 4 modules:
- ICT to support children’s learning
- Study skills
- Facilitating children’s learning
- Inclusive practice
- Social policy
Level 5 modules:
- Safeguarding children
- Reflective practice
- Managing sessions
- Research perspectives
Level 5 Specialist unit:
- Independent study
- £6000 per year full-time
- £4000 per year part-time
- Additional charge for DBS check
- 2 years full-time
- 3 years part-time
Students not currently in employment, but with relevant work experience, will undertake placements during the course.
Accelerated progression onto a relevant degree course is possible. Certain universities may give you exemption from units within related degree courses.
