These courses are for students who want to work in junior managerial positions in the sport industry, become sports coaches, or who wish to progress into Higher Education in a degree related to sport. Our courses have been developed to meet the expanding employment opportunities within the industry including: health and fitness facilities, coaching/teaching, professional sport and performance. This qualification is the equivalent in UCAS points to 3 A-levels and allows entry to university courses (student achievement dependant).
BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport
4 GCSEs grade C/4 or above to include English or Mathematics. Alternatively, a relevant BTEC Level 2 Qualification, NVQ Level 2 or VRQ Level 2
This course has been developed to meet the expanding employment opportunities within the Sports and Fitness industries including: health and fitness facilities, coaching/teaching, professional sport and performance. Combination of practical and written assignments with no examination. There will be a placement in the second year of the course which students must perform well in as part of the pass criteria

There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course however, students obtain the skills and knowledge that they need in order to progress into a career in the Sports industry.
Upon completion of this course, students have a number of options to choose from. If they wish to continue their studies, this course provides UCAS points in the range of 120-420 – which can help with entry to higher education or provide enough on its own depending on the degree/course chosen and institution. Students can enquire about further study to accrue more UCAS points.
For other students, it will be time to enter employment with possible careers such as: Sport coaching, sports development, leisure centre assistant or supervisor, teaching, PE assistant in schools, armed forces, sports therapist, sports journalist, sports business & marketing, gym instructor, NHS public health initiatives.
