Course Description

Do you wish to pursue a career in Fitness Instructing or Personal Training? Are you currently working as a gym instructor and want to add to your skillset? With it's starting from scratch or upskilling, our Advanced Fitness Academy course is the perfect choice for you.

The Hopwood Hall Fitness Academy is a unique opportunity for enthusiastic young people who are interested in becoming Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers. The course is aimed at those who already attend gyms and aspire to work in gym environments, or may have gym instructor qualifications that they wish to add to.

Once you have completed Year 1 of the Fitness Academy, you will be equipped with a portfolio of qualifications which meet the needs of both local and national employers. Please note, this is an industry ready qualification which focuses on employability. The course also carries 32 UCAS points.

This course is taught at our Middleton campus, located in Middleton, Greater Manchester.

Details

This course has been developed to meet the expanding employment opportunities within the Sports and Fitness industries including: health and fitness facilities, coaching/teaching, professional sport and performance. This course includes a combination of practical and written assignments with no examination. There will be a placement in the second year of the course which students must perform well in as part of the pass criteria.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grade C/4 or above to include English or maths. Level 2 gym qualification, NVQ Level 2 or VRQ Level 2.

Work Experience

There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course however, you will obtain the skills and knowledge that you need in order to progress into a career in the Sports industry.

Progression

Upon completion of this course, you have a number of options to choose from. If you wish to continue your studies, this course provides 32 UCAS points which can help with entry to higher education.

Alternatively, if you think it's time to enter employment, there is a range of possible careers such as: Sport coaching, sports development, leisure centre assistant or supervisor, teaching, PE assistant in schools, armed forces, sports therapist, sports journalist, sports business & marketing, gym instructor, NHS public health initiatives.
