These courses are for students who want to work in junior managerial positions in the sport industry, become sports coaches, or who wish to progress into Higher Education in a degree related to sport. Our courses have been developed to meet the expanding employment opportunities within the industry including: health and fitness facilities, coaching/teaching, professional sport and performance.
Level 2 First Certificate in Sport
4 GCSEs grade D/3 or above including English and mathematics.
This course has been developed to meet the expanding employment opportunities within the Sports and Fitness industries including: health and fitness facilities, coaching/teaching, professional sport and performance. Combination of practical and written assignments with no examination. There will be a placement in the second year of the course which students must perform well in as part of the pass criteria.

- Sports nutrition
- Psychology for sports performance
- Fitness training and programming
- Sports leadership
- Organising sports events
- Injury in sport
There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course however, students obtain the skills and knowledge that they need in order to progress into a career in the Sports industry.
Upon completion of this course students can progress onto the Level 3 Sport qualification where they will learn at a higher level and attain a higher value qualification.
Some students may wish to pursue employment, this qualification can allow access to roles such as coaching, leisure work and sport development.
