Hopwood Hall College Scientists - BTEC Applied Science Extended Diploma and Foundation Diploma.

Level 3 BTEC Applied Science Extended Diploma is taught by a team of dedicated and highly qualified Science Lecturers who are specialists in Chemistry, Physics and Biology. We offer a supportive and encouraging environment to enable you to achieve to the best of your ability.

The BTEC Level 3 Applied Science course is equivalent to 3 A Levels, and awards the same UCAS points. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to enter a variety of courses in Higher Education and set you off on the right pathway to your chosen career in the Medical industry. Our study programme is different from A Level courses due to the emphasis being on developing the specific skills and knowledge that are currently in great demand within STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) careers.

Previous students who have successfully completed Level 3 BTEC Applied Science Extended Diploma have progressed to Higher Education courses in Medicine, Pharmacy, Chemistry, Forensic Science, Neuroscience and Biomedical Science.

The Foundation Diploma is equivalent to 1 ½ A Levels, and awarded the same UCAS points. This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge to enter employment or an apprenticeship. Students successfully passing the Foundation Diploma have the choice of progressing into employment such as Laboratory Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants. Alternatively, they can choose to progress on to the second year of Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma and continue their education in Applied Science.
