The purpose of this course is to enable you to develop the transferable skills, attributes and behaviours needed for you to progress onto a Level 2 course and ultimately to employment. The qualifications are designed to ensure you develop the knowledge, practical and technical skills required in IT.

Computer scientists are needed in many large industries such as; Aerospace, Chemical and Pharmaceutical, Computer Software, Medicine, Defence, Education and Energy. Everything from online shopping, film and digital music production, to mobile communications, satellite navigation and computer games rely on computer science skills and understanding.
This course is taught at our Middleton campus, located in Middleton, Greater Manchester.

Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications required for students wishing to begin this course.
If you have not attained GCSE grades 4-9 in English and Maths, you will automatically be enrolled in classes to work towards these qualifications at an appropriate level to suit your needs.

All units will be assessed though the completion of an assignment set and marked by your college tutor.
Work Experience
As part of the course, you will complete 1-2 days work experience with local employers in the Digital Technology industry.
Progression
On completion of this course, you will have the opportunity to progress onto our Level 2 course. Apprenticeship pathways are also available in this area.
