Course Description

This FREE course is for anyone who wishes to learn the fundamentals of Computer Networking.

There is no need for any previous knowledge of networking but there are some entry requirements, please see below for details.

Duration: 14 weeks.

Start date: 1st March 2022.

Pearson Level 3 Award in Networking and Architecture.

Entry Requirements

There is no requirement to have any previous knowledge of computer networking.

Students must have a good understanding of Microsoft Windows and be able to use a keyboard and mouse or, if required, assistive technology.

The qualification requires students to complete a multiple-choice exam and so must have as a minimum a level 2 or above Maths qualification (GCSE grade C or 4, Functional Skill or Key skill) and Level 2 English qualification (GCSE grade C or 4, Functional Skill or Key skill).

You will gain technical knowledge about the following topics:

  • The common components of a computer system
  • Binary conversion and arithmetic
  • (IP) addresses
  • Network cabling
  • The types of network systems and protocols
  • The key components used in networking
  • The services provided by network systems
