Are you aiming to work in the TV and Film industries? This is the perfect course to get you on the right path. The Level 1 Award and Diploma in Art, Design & Media will provide you with an introduction to Creative Media and Games Design, enabling you to both re-engage with education and acquire the requisite knowledge, skills and understanding to progress to further education or employment within the creative industries.
The qualification structure will provide a base of skills and knowledge, enhance self-confidence and impart an understanding of the career demands and opportunities within Games Design and Creative Media.
The aim of this course is to encourage your creativity with emphasis on practical skills, allowing you to learn by completing projects and assignments with real clients using the latest equipment and editing suites.
You will also develop effective working practices that will provide support for creativity across a range of stimulating and demanding Games Design and Creative Media activities.
This course is taught at our Rochdale campus, located in Rochdale Town Centre, Greater Manchester.
Qualifications
UAL (University of Arts London) Level 1 Diploma in Digital Media
Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs grade 1-3 to include English and Maths.
If you have not attained GCSE grades 4-9 in English and Maths you will automatically be enrolled in classes to work towards these qualifications at an appropriate level to suit their ability.

This course is taught by a mix of practical
sessions and classroom teaching, ensuring you are given sufficient
theoretical knowledge to support your projects, activity and studies.
All staff have a great deal of work experience
delivering excellent teaching standards combined with a vital understanding on
how the Media industry works. This allows you to unlock potential work
experience or employment in the Media.

- Unit 1 Introduction to materials, processes and skills in art, design and media.
- Unit 2 Introduction to contextual research in art, design and media.
- Unit 3 Introduction to communication skills in art, design and media.
- Unit 4 Solving 2D creative problems.
- Unit 5 Solving 3D creative problems.
- Unit 6 Solving time-based creative problems.
- Unit 7 Art, design and media project
Work Experience
You can work with internal and external clients to develop content following a professional brief of what the client has requested. Work experience can also include producing work for a local indie games company, with credits listed on released games. You will also undertake live briefs as well as local and national competitions, such as World Skills and Artstation Challenges.
Progression
Upon completion of this course, you can progress onto a Level 3 Extended Diploma in either Media Production, Games Development, Graphic Design or other suitable Level 3 course at Hopwood Hall College. Potential Careers include; Animator, 3D modelling, Level Designer, Games tester, Concept Artist/Digital Artist, Programmer for Computer Games, Illustrator, Sound and Music Creator, Story Writer, Visual Effects artist for the film industry.
