Course Description

This course has been designed to appeal to both Professionals and amateurs wanting to increase their knowledge in preparation for the summer months and cooking at home as well as to give an insight into the variety of Catering options available - with the massive increase in Street Food and Outdoor provision this course can offer an expansion to skills or is suitable for those with limited knowledge.

Exact start dates during the Autumn term to be confirmed, however places fill quickly so early applications are encouraged.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirement - just an interest in learning.


The course covers Preparation of BBQ rubs and seasoning, variety of salads, making bread rolls, cooking a range of meats and displaying. The course consists of 1 hour theory and 3 hours practical delivered each week in our stunning training kitchens. Learners are able to purchase the food made and have the option for progression to a level 2 course next year.

Work Experience

This is a knowledge-only qualification. Learners do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification.


Main route of Progression would be to a Level 2 Diploma in Culinary Skills
