These courses provide learners with the competences to work within the health and social care field and progress to university or employment. Students will be given assignments in each unit which will cover the outcomes for that unit and these will be graded pass, merit and distinction. Assessment will also be carried out in the work placement.
Cache Diploma in Health and Social Care
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above are needed to begin this course, and this needs to include English, Maths, Science and one other academic subject.
Alternative entry requirements to the GCSEs include the BTEC First Diploma at Merit or above.
These courses provide learners with the competencies to work within the health and social care field. Professions include social work, youth and community work, psychology, nursing, paramedics, occupational therapy, sports, science, various positions within residential and nursing homes, mental health and allied medical professions. Courses consists of academic work within the college and practical work within the vocational industry and are subject to CRB clearance.

Learners are expected to complete 100/200 hours per year depending on the course level.
The first placement will be allocated to you in your first term. You will be visited at your placement by a member of staff.
On completion of the course students’ progress onto our Level 3 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care, a level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care, an HNC or they can go into employment with possible careers such as: Health professional, home carer, health care assistant, care assistant, senior carers, support worker, auxiliary nurse, personal assistant, paramedic, occupational therapist.
