The course is aimed at learners over 19 years of age who are pursuing a career as a teaching assistant. You will be able to progress onto level 3 supporting teaching and learning in schools course upon completion of this qualification.
The course runs for 35 weeks (1 full academic year) starting Tuesday 14th September. Classes are:
Tuesday's 1pm - 4pm - Rochdale campus
Thursday's 1pm - 4pm - Rochdale campus
Thursday's 5pm - 7pm - Middleton campus
The full course cost is £633.
This course is available across both campuses, Rochdale in the day and Middleton in the evening.
Level 2 NCFE CACHE Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
4 GCSEs grade D/3 or above to include English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
During the course you will be taught about how to support children’s development within a school environment and how a school provides curriculum support to children. The course consists of units that will each be assessed with a written task and a practical assessment.
To complete a level 2 part time course you will be required to find a placement in a primary or secondary school. You will be expected to find your own placement. Within your placement you will be required to support the class teacher and teaching assistant in their daily role. You will support children on an individual or group basis, developing their numeracy, literacy and confidence. Your role will be to follow policies and procedures set in the school.
Upon completion of this qualification you will be able to progress onto either the level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools course or the Early Year’s Educator pathway. You will also be able to gain employment in a school as a teaching assistant
