Today the hairdressing industry is a mutli-billion pound business with the growth of disposable income, the influence of fashion and the desire to look younger. There are a vast amount of job opportunities both in the UK and worldwide for fully trained individuals. This course is designed for those who want to work within the hairdressing industry and covers a range of topics to give students a good practical understanding of all hairdressing techniques. Those studying at Level 3 will also complete courses in men’s’ hair to enable them to develop skills in barbering techniques.
City & Guilds VRQ Diploma in Hairdressing (QCF)
A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade C/4 or above to include English or Mathematics are required to begin this course. Students will also have had to complete either an NVQ or VRQ
Level 2 Diploma in
Hairdressing to gain the required skills and knowledge to begin the level 3
This course is taught by a mix of classroom teaching followed by practical sessions to demonstrate understanding of key hairdressing principles. All level 3 students spend a vast proportion of their time working in the Riverside Salon with clients to enable them to fully develop their skills and prepare them for either employment or higher education
All staff have a great deal of experience within this area and deliver excellent teaching standards which allows students to unlock their potential and gain valuable practical skills and knowledge.

- Colour correction
- Men’s hairdressing
Level 3 students, upon completion of training, will have the opportunity to work with their own clientele in the Riverside Salon, offering a range of hairdressing techniques.
Upon completion of this course, students have the option to progress onto higher education, further training or find employment as a hairdresser, barber, stylist or salon manager.
