Today the hairdressing industry is a mutli-billion pound business with the growth of disposable income, the influence of fashion and the desire to look younger. There are a vast amount of job opportunities both in the UK and worldwide for fully trained individuals. This course is designed for those who want to work within the hairdressing industry and covers a range of topics to give students a good practical understanding of all hairdressing techniques. Those studying at Level 2 and 3 will also complete courses in men’s’ hair to enable them to develop skills in barbering techniques.
City & Guilds VRQ Diploma in Ladies and Men’s Hairdressing (QCF)
A minimum of 4 GCSEs grade D/3 or above to include English and mathematics are required to begin this course.
If the required grade is not reached there are opportunities to study these subjects alongside the course to help achieve grade C/4. This is a government requirement but also needed by many employers for any numbers of careers.
This course is taught by a mix of classroom teaching followed by practical sessions to demonstrate understanding of key hairdressing principles.
All staff have a great deal of experience within this area and deliver excellent teaching standards which allows students to unlock their potential and gain valuable practical skills and knowledge.
Topics on this course include:
- Health and safety in the salon
- Working in hairdressing
- Client consultation
- Shampooing and conditioning
- Drying and styling
- Cutting men’s hair
Students will get the opportunity to develop the skills learned in the training rooms in our own commercial Riverside Salon and also practice new fashion and current trends within hairdressing.
Upon completion of this course, students have the option to progress on to our Level 3 Hairdressing Diploma.
