This course introduces you to hairdressing and enables learners with no formal qualifications to progress onto the level 2 Diploma in Ladies and Men’s Hairdressing.
City & Guilds Diploma in an Introduction to the Hair and Beauty Sector (QCF)
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. Students will work towards Level 1 functional skills in English and Maths alongside their main study programme.
This course is taught by a mix of classroom teaching followed by practical sessions to demonstrate understanding of key hairdressing principles.
All staff have a great deal of experience within this area and deliver excellent teaching standards which allows students to unlock their potential and gain valuable practical skills and knowledge.

- Shampooing and conditioning
- Drying and styling,
- Creative styling
- Plaiting and twisting,
- Temporary colouring
There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course however there are ongoing practical sessions which enable the learner to gain a broad experience of all basic hairdressing elements.
Level 2 Hairdressing, Level 2 Hair and Media Make-up, apprenticeship based on achieving required Level 1 functional skill in English and Maths. Possible careers are a Hairdresser, barber, stylist or salon manager.
