Course Description

Are you ready to start your career as an Early Years Educator? Your course will enable you to work with children from birth to 5 years and and you will also gain knowledge of working with children aged 5 to 7 years.

You will be instrumental in helping with the development of the children in your care as they play and learn to prepare for school.

Not only will you have the opportunity to learn in our virtual nursery, you'll be taught by industry experts with years of experience to help you gain the practical, hands on skills it takes to work in a childcare and education.

This course is taught at our Rochdale campus, located in Rochdale Town Centre, Greater Manchester.


Level 3 National Diploma in Children's Learning, Play and Development

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English and Maths.

Alternative entry requirements to the GCSEs include the CACHE Level 2 Certificate, BTEC Level 2 qualification, NVQ Level 2 or VRQ Level 2.

Work Experience

You must attend a work experience placement in the first and second year of your study programme. You must do a minimum of 750 hours over a period of two years.

The first placement will be allocated to you in your first term. You will be visited at your placement by a member of staff.


On completion of the course students can go on to Higher Education, including the Foundation Degree in Early Years at Hopwood Hall College, or employment as a Nanny, Childminder, Practitioner in a Day Nursery, Nursery School or Primary School, Pre-School Worker. Those who achieve a degree level qualification can go into the teaching profession.
