Course Description

Are you ready to start your career as an Early Years Educator? This qualification will prepare and enable you to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

This qualification centres around four themes: health and wellbeing; legislation, frameworks and professional practice; play, development and learning for school readiness; professional development. You will use our ‘virtual’ nursery to practice your creative skills and routine care skills including nappy changing with our virtual dolls

Not only will you have the opportunity to learn in our virtual nursery, you'll be taught by industry experts with years of experience to help you gain the practical, hands on skills it takes to work in a childcare and education.

This course is taught at our Rochdale campus, located in Rochdale Town Centre, Greater Manchester.

Qualifications

NCFE Cache Diploma in Early Years

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including English and Maths.

Alternative entry requirements to the GCSEs include the CACHE Level 2 Certificate, BTEC Level 2 qualification, NVQ Level 2 or VRQ Level 2.

Work Experience

As part of the course you will attend work placement two days per week which will provide you with practical first-hand experience of what it takes to be an Early Years Practitioner. Throughout the course and whilst on placement, you will need to demonstrate competence in both knowledge and skills.

You must attend a work experience placement as part of their study programme and need to complete 750 hours in placement.

Progression

On completion of the course you can go on to Higher Education, including the Foundation Degree in Early Years at Hopwood Hall College, or employment as a Nanny, Childminder, Practitioner in a Day Nursery, Nursery School or Primary School or Pre-School Worker. Those who achieve a degree level qualification can go into the teaching profession.
