Entry Requirements
To begin this course, learners are expected to have 4 GCSEs grade D/3 or above to include English and Mathematics. All students are required to achieve GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English. If the required grade is not reached there are opportunities to study these subjects at college alongside the course to help achieve it. This is a government requirement but also needed by many employers for any number of careers.
Details
All Early Years courses include topics which are integrated with practical lessons or work experience. To complete the award, learners must achieve a set number of units to make the qualification value. On this course, learners must achieve a total of 33 credits, 29 from mandatory group A and 4 credits from optional group B.
Students will be expected to attend college 9-5pm three days a week. To be successful on this course it is essential that you have good attendance and punctuality. You must also be motivated, committed and enthusiastic as you will be expected to develop a range of skills that will celebrate and nurture the potential in all children and young people.

Work Experience
Progression
Upon completion of this course, students can move onto the Level 3 CACHE Diploma in an Early Years Education and Care. You could also take up an apprenticeship or move straight into employment, with possible careers including: Primary teaching, early years teacher, early years educator, nanny, childminder, practitioner in day nurseries, nursery schools and primary schools or preschool worker.
