This is an advanced top up course for individuals who are competent have successfully passed the following units at L3 Advanced Bookkeeping, Final Accounts and Indirect Tax. The purpose of the AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping is to ensure that students have the advanced bookkeeping skills necessary to work in a bookkeeping role or to progress to higher level accountancy. Students will gain the knowledge and skills needed to carry out advanced bookkeeping transactions and tasks by completing three units:
- Management Account Costing
- Spreadsheets
- Professional Ethics and Synoptic
Students who complete this course would complete the AAT Level 3 Advanced Diploma in Accounting.
This course starts on 31/01/2023 and will run for 32 weeks, 3 hours per week on Tuesday 6pm - 9pm.
Course fees (if not eligible for funding): £2,573.

Entry Requirements
Student must have
completed the Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping - Part Time and as a
minimum as a minimum:
- Level 2 manual bookkeeping
qualification (e.g. AAT foundation certificate in bookkeeping)
- Level 2 or above Maths
qualification (GCSE grade C or 4, Functional Skill or Key skill)
- Level 1 English
qualification (GCSE grade D or 3, Functional Skill or Key skill).

Management accounts
software
Students will learn
the purpose and use of management accounting within an organisation, applying
techniques required for dealing with costs, apportioning costs according to
organisational requirements, analysing and reviewing deviations from budget and
reporting these to management, and applying management accounting techniques to
support decision making.
Accounting Software
Student will
develop how to analyse date using a spreadsheet and then communicate the most
important information to enable appreciate judgements to be made.
Professional
Ethics
The Professional
Ethics in Accounting and Finance unit covers three main topic areas:
- Ethical principles
- How to behave ethically
- Taking action if there’s a
breach of ethics or the law
Students to develop
the professional skills and behaviours needed to work and behave ethically
within an accounting environment.
Synoptic
A synoptic assessment will be the final unit that tests your knowledge you have gained throughout the level, covering multiple units. It is a computer-based exam that you will attempt once you have completed the other core units within the qualification. All units are assessed by an online exam. All units must be passed to achieve the full level 3 certificate in bookkeeping.

Progression
This is an advanced
course, on completion students will be able to undertake duties as a senior
bookkeeper. It should be noted that most employers would want some experience
of using accounting software. Possible careers with this range of skills would
