Course Description

This course is aimed at people with a lively and enquiring mind who have an interest in business, including setting up their own.

You’ll need to have a willingness to explore new ideas and an ability to communicate ideas effectively. You learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities, often with businesses in the local community.


Level 2 Extended Diploma in Business - Preparatory Year

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grade D/3 or above to include English and Mathematics. All students are required to achieve GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English. If the required grade is not reached there are opportunities to study these subjects at college alongside the course to help achieve it. This is a government requirement but also needed by many employers for any numbers of careers.


This course is taught by a mixture of individual and group work sessions to demonstrate understanding of key business principles.

All staff have a great deal of experience within this area and deliver excellent teaching standards which allows students to unlock their potential and gain valuable practical skills and knowledge.

Work Experience

As part of the course students will complete real-life industry briefs and work with local businesses. The proportion of time allotted to this will depend on the length of the specific brief.


On completion of this course, students will have the opportunity to progress onto the Business Enterprise Academy preparatory year.

Future careers in this area are: Business entrepreneur, business manager, marketing manager, HR manager, digital marketing, finance, fashion marketing, business law, and international business.
