The purpose of this course is to enable students to develop the transferable skills, attributes and behaviours needed for you to progress to a level 2 Business course and ultimately to employment.
The qualifications are designed to ensure you develop the knowledge, practical and technical skills required in business.

Level 1 Introduction to Business
Entry Requirements
There are no formal qualifications required for students wishing to begin this course. All students are required to achieve GCSE grade C/4 in Maths and English. If the required grade is not reached there are opportunities to study these subjects at college alongside the course to help achieve it. This is a government requirement but also needed by many employers for any numbers of careers.

Being Organised
From creating to-do lists and filing
systems to setting up your phone for alerts and alarms, this unit will
introduce you to ways that will help you to plan and use your time effectively,
as well as organising yourself and your work.
Developing a Personal Progression Plan
You will have the opportunity to find
out what opportunities are available to you and how to get to the next stage.
You will carry out a self-audit, identifying what your strengths are and what
you need to develop to be able to meet your progression goals. You will learn
how to set goals and plan ways to achieve them. You will then produce a
personal progression plan to help you reach the next step in your life.
Organising a Meeting
You will learn what is needed to
organise a meeting. You will be given a meeting to organise, setting a date and
time and putting together an agenda of the key points that will be discussed.
You will invite people to attend by sending out invitations. You will sit in on
the meeting and take a record of it.
Branding a Product
You will look at well-known brands and
what makes them successful in terms of colour and style. You will then be given
a product to brand by creating a logo and strapline.
Presenting a Business Idea
You will develop the skills to prepare and present an idea to an audience. You will learn how important it is to be well prepared, making sure you know everything you need to and that you have covered the most important points in your presentation to ensure your business idea is convincing.
Work Experience
As part of the course students will complete 1-2 days work experience with local employers.
Progression
On completion of this course, students will have the opportunity to progress onto the Level 2 Extended Certificate in Business
Future careers in this area are: Business entrepreneur, business manager, marketing manager, HR manager, digital marketing, finance, fashion marketing, business law, and international business.
