Under the guidance of our expert tutors who have worked in the industry themselves, you’ll develop your knowledge and understanding of more advanced aspects of the trade, such diagnosis and rectification of auxiliary electrical system faults in vehicles.

City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- 4 GCSEs grade 4 or above, preferably to include English and Maths
- Level 2 qualification in Motor Vehicle
- Or 1-5 years' experience in the trade
Entrants who do not have a grade 4 or above in English and Maths will continue studying these at the college
You'll study a wide range of units which are designed to give you the perfect foundation for a career in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
The following topics will provide you with a strong portfolio of evidence to allow you to enter the industry:
- Health and safety
- Job roles within the automotive industry
- Materials fabrication, tools and measuring devices in the automotive environment
Meanwhile, some of the exciting specialist units that you'll undertake include:
- Diagnosis and rectification of engine system faults
- Diagnosis and rectification of chassis system faults
- Diagnosis and rectification of auxiliary electrical system faults
- Inspection of light vehicles
There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course. However, the motor vehicle workshop is designed to replicate a garage environment and will allow you to feel comfortable in a professional setting.
The completion of this course will present you with a number of exciting opportunities. You will be able to start your career through employment or continue to train through an apprenticeship.
In addition, you may wish to pursue to the VCQ Level 3 (conversion course, undertaken on day release/part-time)
