Course Description

Job roles may include: Accounts Assistant, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accounts Administrator, Business Accounts Administrator and Finance Assistant.

An Accounts/Finance Assistant is an integral part of the team responsible for maintaining an efficient and accurate finance function within a business. The Accounts/Finance Assistant is responsible for assisting the team of accountants with junior accounting duties. These can vary massively depending on the team structure and size of the business.

An Accounts/Finance Assistant’s work could include basic bookkeeping activities, working with sales and purchase ledgers, running calculations to ensure that records and payments are correct, recording of cash and data entry.

Level 2 Accounts/Finance Assistant Apprenticeship

  • Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting

Entry Requirements

Individual employers will identify any relevant entry requirements in terms of previous qualifications.

Initial assessment and diagnostic testing on English and maths will take place prior to commencement of the apprenticeship (Unless already achieved A-C, 4-9 GCSE or equivalent English & maths).

Apprentices without Level 1 English and Maths will need to achieve this prior to taking the end-point assessment

THE ACCOUNTS/FINANCE ASSISTANT APPRENTICESHIP PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN AND DEVELOP A RANGE OF KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND BEHAVIOURS INCLUDING:

Understand how accounting systems and processes allows a business to keep track of all types of financial transactions

Understand the cost recording system within an organisation

Ability to organise self, prioritise workload/activity to meet deadlines

Ability to maintain the security of accounting information using passwords and other appropriate security measures

Delivers excellent service, identifying and meeting or exceeding customer expectations
