Access courses are designed for students who want a fast track route to university or to progress into careers and vocations that require higher level qualifications. Access courses have featured at Hopwood Hall for many years – changing the lives of many students. We’re also proud to say that our achievement and success rates are amongst the best in the country.
There are eight ‘pathways’ on the Level 3 programme tailored to different career/ Higher Education areas. These are:
- Art & Design
- Business Professions
- Catering & IT
- Health and Caring Professions
- Health Sciences
- Humanities
- Public Services and Allied Professions
- Sport and Exercise
There are slightly different entry criteria for each pathway which reflects the requirements of differing Higher Education degree programmes. All pathways have mandatory units in Academic Essay Writing and Research Skills.
Please be aware that successful completion of an Access to HE Diploma does not guarantee a place at university.

FEES
£620-£3,400 per year
Entry Requirements
Immediate entry to the
one-year Level 3 Access to HE Diploma offers students who have already attained
sufficient GCSE qualifications the quickest route to university. Usually this
means students must have attained 4 GCSEs grade A-C/9-4, including English and
Maths.

The course is divided into 3 modules - Business, Law and Management and topics include:

- Introduction to Marketing
Law Module
- Contract Law
- Precedent, Statue and Statutory Interpretation
- Negligence
- Property Offences
- Employment Law
Management
- Business Management Structures
- Management Styles
- Managing Change
- Managing Conflict in the Workplace
- Recruitment and Selection
The Access programme requires attendance for 14 hours per week over 34 weeks. Level 3 students can, in some cases, combine evening with day time study depending on their chosen pathway.
Work Experience
There are no formal work experience requirements on this course.
Progression
The Access to HE Diploma offers students a way to gain the qualifications needed to enter Higher Education and gain a degree, helping them to enter their chosen career.
