The need for adult social care continues to rise at a time when the system supporting that care is rapidly and significantly changing.  With around 1.5 million people working in adult social care in England, care workers need up-to-date support and guidance in order to provide adequate person-centred care.

This qualification will provide you with an insightful introduction, and will help you develop your knowledge and understanding of the skills needed to work in the adult social care sector.

It is suitable for you if you are an adult returning to work, or if you are undergoing a career change. It will increase your knowledge and understanding of the adult social care sector.

ATTENDANCE:

This course is delivered on a Flexible Learning basis over a twelve-week period. You will be assigned an assessor who will be able to provide additional help and support if required but all learning will be completed and submitted remotely through an on-line learning platform. Your assessor will provide feedback and advice on all work submitted and will assess your full qualification through to the end of learning.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific prior learning requirements for this qualification. It will be beneficial if you have Level 1 English and feel competent with using IT.

Eligibility:

  • You must currently live in England
  • You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
  • You must be over the age of 19
  • You must not be on an apprenticeship
Details

This course is made up of eight units:

  • Understand the role of the social care worker
  • Principles pf personal development in adult social care
  • Understand person-centred approaches in adult social care settings
  • Principles in diversity, equality and inclusion Principles in communication
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection
  • Introduction to duty of care
  • Understand how to handle information
  • Understand health and safety

This course can assist in careers such as personal assistant, receptionist or school business management.

Work Experience

As this qualification is knowledge only, you do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification. However, if a work placement is a required for your course, the College will support you in completing a DBS application.
