This course is for anyone who wants to improve their use of Microsoft Office in either a work or home setting. The techniques incorporated into each unit are Intermediate in nature because they are less common than basic techniques and are for more specialised use of the listed software packages.

There are no entry requirements but students must have a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows and be able to use a keyboard and mouse or if required assistive technology.

Microsoft Outlook
Students will learn how to:
Use email software tools and techniques to compose and send messages
Identify how to stay safe when using email
Use an address book to organise contact information
Identify when and how to respond to email messages
Identify how to organise, store or delete email messages
Microsoft PowerPoint
Students will learn how to:
Input and combine text and other information within presentation slides
Use presentation software tools to structure, edit and format slides
Prepare slides for presentation
Microsoft Excel
Students will learn how to:
Use a spreadsheet to enter, edit and organise numerical and other data
Use appropriate formulas and tools to summarise and display spreadsheet information
Select and use appropriate tools and techniques to present spreadsheet information effectively
Microsoft Word
Enter, edit and combine text and other information accurately within word processing documents
Structure information within word processing documents
Use word processing software tools to format and present documents
All units will be assessed though the completion of an assignment set and marked by your college tutor.

There are no work expereince placements linked to this part time course.
Progression
This is an introductory course for beginners on completion of this qualification students can take the Intermediate Microsoft Office course.
The skills developed will provide students with the confidence to use the listed office software packages both in the workplace and at home.
