T-Level - Laboratory Sciences
Are you ready to join the technical revolution that is T-Levels?
The purpose of the T-Level in Health and Science is to ensure students have the knowledge and skills needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training relevant to the T-Level.
A fully competent Laboratory Scientist will be able to work in a wide range of organisations, including but not exclusively, chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, formulated products, nuclear and analytical services. A Laboratory Scientist can carry out a range of technical and scientific activities which may include laboratory based investigations and scientific experimentation in their specialist field.
The course is delivered over 2 years:
The first year will comprise the core elements which are two externally marked exams plus the employer led project, graded in line with A-levels
The second year will be the occupational specialism - Laboratory Science graded as P,M,D in line with BTEC qualifications
In addition, there is an Industry based work placement consisting of a minimum of 315 hours.

Entry Requirements
4 GCSEs at grade 5 or above to include Maths, English and Science
Work Experience
As part of achieving the overall T-Level programme, students are required to complete a minimum of 315 hours industry placement. In order to demonstrate threshold competence in their chosen occupational specialism, the student will be observed during their industry placement.
Progression
Students who achieve this qualification could progress to the following,
Employment
Science technician for example, laboratory technician.
Higher Education
Apprenticeship (progression onto lower level apprenticeships may also be possible in some circumstances, if the content is sufficiently different)
