Media Practice - Level 3 National Extended Diploma

Are you aiming to work in the TV and Film industries? This is the perfect course for you. Our Creative Media course offers a practical, work related programme with plenty of opportunities for hands on production experience. It's ideal for those who wish to develop new skills and hone existing ones in the creative media industries, including; camera work, editing moving image, radio production and pre-production planning.

The aim of the course is to encourage your creativity with emphasis on practical skills, allowing you to learn by completing projects and assignments with real clients using the latest equipment and editing suites.

The majority of our students go on to pursue courses in media related subjects in television, radio or film production, media studies, communications, journalism, marketing or public relations. In addition to contributing to the student radio station broadcasts, you will also participate in live multimedia camera productions in our fully furbished TV studio.

This course is taught at our Rochdale campus, located in Rochdale Town Centre, Greater Manchester.

Entry Requirements

4 GCSEs grade C/4 or above to include English and Mathematics.

This course is taught by a mix of practical sessions and classroom teaching, ensuring you are given sufficient theoretical knowledge to support your projects, activity and studies.

All staff have a great deal of work experience delivering excellent teaching standards combined with a vital understanding on how the Media industry works. This allows you to unlock potential work experience or employment in the Media.

Work Experience

There is no specific work experience required or undertaken for this course however there is a practical element. You can work with clients to develop video content followed by a professional brief of what the client has requested. This allows you to get a first-hand view of working with clients in the Media industry.

Progression

Upon completion of this course, You have a number of options to choose from. If you wish to continue your studies, this course provides UCAS points in the range of 120-360 - which can help with entry to higher education or provide enough on its own depending on the degree/course chosen and institution.

Alternatively, it will be time to enter employment with possible careers such as: Film and TV producer, Cameraman, Editor, Sound Recorder, DJ/ Radio Presenter, Researcher, Runner, Studio Technician, Lighting Engineer and Location Work.
