ESOL 16-18 Study Programme

English is spoken and written every day around the world to communicate. If your first language is not English and you want to improve your skills, this course is for you.

Covering the four main skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing, you will gain nationally recognised qualifications in English language, ICT, maths and employability skills.

In addition, you will learn about UK culture and take part in events to celebrate your own. You’ll also take part in fun competitions to develop job interview skills and entrepreneurial skills, and develop the confidence to live, study and work in the UK successfully.

This course is taught at our Rochdale campus, located in the Rochdale Town Centre of Greater Manchester.

This course will enable you to:

Write emails, reviews, reports, job application letters and supporting statements to apply for college courses
Learn about different vocational areas in the college to help with progression/career choices as your language skills develop
Speak to and understand doctors, work colleagues, teachers and members of the community
Read and understand information, news, instructions and books
Make friends using English
Develop employability skills
Take part in enrichment opportunities

Work Experience

We regularly work with Rochdale Food Bank, Rochdale Soup Kitchen, Treesponsibility and Communitea Rooms.

Progression

Once you have completed this course you will be able to progress onto any Level 1 courses.

Past learners have found work in IT, sports, hair and beauty, health care, child care, accounting and the arts.
