Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care - Level 2 Certificate

Our Level 2 certificate in Understanding Dignity and Safeguarding in Adult Health and Social Care will teach you about the key principles of dignity, duty of care and safeguarding.

This course also covers the dilemmas you might face when working in adult health and social care, the responsibilities you have to the people you care for, and what can happen if care principles are not properly upheld.

The qualification is designed primarily for individuals working with, or intending to work with, vulnerable adults in the health and social care sectors. It aims to give learners knowledge and understanding of the key principles of dignity, duty of care and safeguarding as applied to adult health and social care.

ATTENDANCE:

This course is delivered on a Flexible Learning basis over a twelve-week period. You will be assigned an assessor who will be able to provide additional help and support if required but all learning will be completed and submitted remotely through an on-line learning platform. Your assessor will provide feedback and advice on all work submitted and will assess your full qualification through to the end of learning.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific prior learning requirements for this qualification. It will be beneficial if you have Level 1 English and feel competent with using IT.

Eligibility:

  • You must currently live in England
  • You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
  • You must be over the age of 19
  • You must not be on an apprenticeship
Details

This course is made up of four units:

  • Learn the key principles of dignity, duty of care and safeguarding
  • Investigate the principles and how they are applied
  • Examine dilemmas that can arise
  • Learn the consequences when care principles are not upheld
Work Experience

As this qualification is knowledge only, you do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification. However, if a work placement is a required for your course, the College will support you in completing a DBS application.

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

  • Level 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
  • Level 3 Certificate in Understanding the Principles of Dementia Care
  • Level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support
  • Level 3 Certificate in Stroke Care Management
  • Level 3 qualifications in Mental Health
