This course is delivered on a Flexible Learning basis over a twelve-week period. You will be assigned an assessor who will be able to provide additional help and support if required but all learning will be completed and submitted remotely through an on-line learning platform. Your assessor will provide feedback and advice on all work submitted and will assess your full qualification through to the end of learning.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific prior learning requirements for this qualification. It will be beneficial if you have Level 1 English and feel competent with using IT.

Eligibility:

  • You must currently live in England
  • You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
  • You must be over the age of 19
  • You must not be on an apprenticeship
Details

This course is made up of five units:

  • Gain good up-to-date knowledge of the safe handling of medicines
  • Learn how to maintain stock and record, store and dispose of medication
  • Understand the different types of medication and how they are classified
  • Learn the correct procedure for record keeping and the audit process
  • Gain relevant skills, knowledge and understanding to improve service user experience
Work Experience

As this qualification is knowledge only, you do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification. However, if a work placement is a required for your course, the College will support you in completing a DBS application.

Progression

Upon completion of this course, learners can progress to a range of qualifications including:

  • Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Health and Social Care (Adults) for England
  • Level 2 and 3 Diplomas in Clinical Healthcare Support Level 2 and 3 Certificates in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
  • Intermediate and Advanced Level Apprenticeships in Health and Social Care
  • Intermediate and Advanced Level Apprenticeships in Clinical Healthcare Support
