This course is delivered on a Flexible Learning basis over a twelve-week period. Your assessor will provide feedback and advice on all work submitted and will assess your full qualification through to the end of learning.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific prior learning requirements for this qualification. It will be beneficial if you have Level 1 English and feel competent with using IT.

Eligibility:

  • You must currently live in England
  • You must have been resident in the UK/EU for 3+ years, for purposes other than study
  • You must be over the age of 19
  • You must not be on an apprenticeship

  • Understanding Postnatal Depression
  • Understanding Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Understanding Bipolar Disorder
  • Understanding Schizophrenia
  • Understanding Dementia
  • Understanding Eating Disorders
  • Understanding Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Understanding Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Work Experience

As this qualification is knowledge only, you do not need to be working or undertaking practical placements to take this qualification. However, if a work placement is a required for your course, the College will support you in completing a DBS application.

Progression

Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to:

  • Level 2 and 3 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Social Care
  • Level 3 Certificate in Understanding Mental Health
  • Level 3 Award in Steps Towards Suicide Reduction
  • Level 3 Award in the Awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005
  • Level 3 Award in Counselling Skills and Theory
  • Level 3 Diploma in Counselling Skills
